I was totally shocked to hear a great genius – a very very scientific man who claimed that he accepted all the proved facts of science and proved the Quran and Saheeh Hadees with the established facts of science and the latest discoveries made in science which were told in the Quran thousand four hundred years back and shocked people about the pristine purity and authenticity of the great holy Quran. This great genius, whose lectures, the world appreciates including me has given a great contribution to Islam and the muslims but very very unfortunately this Mr. Zakir Naik failed miserably when coming to the issue of moon sighting in Islam in his peaceTV conversation:http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5900432246972160703#… He quotes a hadees stating where Rasool (s.a.w) says “we are an illiterate generation. Zakir Naik, what happened to all your scientific proofs. Why did you become educated. Rasool (s.a.w) specifically told we should be illiterates. and sets this above hadees as norms for viewing the moon through the naked eye. Mr. Zakir Naik, if this was your norm for sighting the moon through the naked eye, then you should not use the facilities of modern technology like travelling on a plane, train, etc, etc, or using the computers or TVs, radios, etc, etc. Especially, you should not use the clocks and watches for according to you, we should remain illiterates to the end of the world. We should not get educated and we should never have calendars and watches, they are all purely calculations. We are supposed to be illiterates and we should not calculate. Mr. Zakir Naik, what happened to all your scientific proofs. Why did you become educated. Rasool (s.a.w) specifically told we should be illiterates. I am sorry Mr. Zakir Naik, you have totally misunderstood and misrepresented and misquoted this Hadees—Rasool (s.a.w) meant this hadees for his time and his generation. Certainly He did not mean that the entire muslim society should remain uneducated, illiterates, and should never resort to calculations till the end of this earth. Rasool(s.a.w) has said in an well known Hadees that the sleep of an Alim will not equal the entire worship of a common man all his life time, and He has also said “even unto China travel to gain Knowledge; these words of the Prophet(s.a.w) clearly show that He was very much for education and seeking knowledge.
Today, our society has well educated scholars, scientists, engineers, doctors, etc, etc. If Rasool (s.a.w) had set the norm as you said then we should have remained illiterates and never resort the calculation, we would have never reached these standards. Allah clearly states in the Quran-10:5 that he created the sun and the moon especially to calculate your days, months, years, and time. Rasool (s.a.w) has clearly stated that a day will come which would be equal to a week and a day which will equal a month and a day which would equal a year. The sahabaas asked Rasool (s.a.w), “Ya rasoolullah, when a day equals a year, in that whole year the sun would rise and set only once, will it be okay if we perform 5 times prayer for that year and Rasool (s.a.w) replied would you not calculate and eat one year’s food so also you would have to calculate and pray one year’s prayer.
O servant of Allah! Adhere (to the path of Truth). We said: Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him), how long will he (Dajjal) stay on Earth?He said: For forty days, one day like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of the days will be like your days.We said: Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) will one day's prayer suffice for the prayers of the day equal to one year? A few months back it was noted that the planet Mars had slowed down and then it stopped and then started revolving on the opposite side, thus proving that the earth and all the other planets around the sun would undergo this phenomenal change and thus, prove what Mohammed (s.a.w) said was TRUE, that a day would be a week, a day would be a month, and a day would be a year, and also that the Sun would rise on the West.If we are not used to calculation, we will never be able to pray at that time. Rasool (s.a.w) clearly knew that we would resort to calculations and he completely accepted and allowed such calculations. Why go that far, even today, if you take the Artic and the Antarctic, there is Sun light for 6 months and night for 6 months. Unless and until the people living there resort to calculations, they would never be able to start their fast or celebrate their Eid or pray the 5 times prayer. When we resort to astronomical data and calculation we would have an accurate Lunar calendar totally in accordance to the Quran and Saheeh Hadees, totally in accordance to the phases of the moon as mentioned by Prophet(s.a.w) and Allah in the Quran and the entire Globe especially the Muslim Umma would be following a single Universal Lunar Calendar – A CALENDAR that Allah gave us and asks us to follow;far far contrary to this stupid, false, and idiotic calendar that we are using at present all over the world with different dates for each country and city too in some countries.
Allah has made the entire globe a musallah for the muslims. You could pray wherever and whenever you want and fast and celebrate your Eids on the prescribed dates and you should be able to stick to the norms of Islam wherever you are on this Globe. If you cannot then Islam is not viable in certain places. This is totally wrong.Also Common Sense will tell you for certain that a month cannot have 3 or 4 first of a month. Take for example, this year’s Eid-ul-fitr --- we celebrated it on Thursday the 9th September and it was first of shawwal for us. We clearly saw astronomical accurate calculation and confirmed the birth of the cresent through satellite and telescope. The Saudi celebrated the Eid on Friday, 10th September and that was first of shawwal for them, and Pakistan and some cities inIndia celebrated it on Saturday, the 11th September and that was the first of shawwal for them. Tell me, can month of shawwal have 3 firsts on three consecutive days or is it madness. I leave it to you. Allah says in the Quran, I have perfected your religion. If this are the norms of the Islamiccalendar we have at present, the calendar and the Islamic date is far from perfection. Is Allah telling a lie or are we the Muslims; We have got such a cranky, irresponsible, foolish calendar in Allah’s perfect religion. It has to be the other way round. Certainly, Allah’s religion is perfect. It is we, the muslims who have perverted the issue of the calendar till date and have such a stupid calendar where the world is laughing at such a perfect religion with such a whimsical and eccentric calendar where a month has 3 to 4 firsts;though we follow the sameLunar Calendar and pray our Jumma Friday prayers throughout the Globe within 24 hours without any problems, or harassments, but when it comes to Eid every half baked Alim is having a field day and declaring the eid dates as to his whims and fancies and tells the illiterate Muslims that’s how it has to be and everyone keeps quite about it- is this what Allah wants from us – to unite in an error or does Allah wants us to Stand for TRUTH and fight for TRUTH ???????? Now do you think that different countries should have a different datesordo you think we should be uniform in following the Crescent moon and follow a uniform Universal Lunar calendar – Allah(swt) has given us a Lunar Calendar far more accurate and stable than the Solar or Gregorian calendar which has made their months according to their whims and fancies into 30 days and 31 daysand 28 days and 29 days on a leap year, but contrary to this we have a very accurate and well establishedLunar calendar which unlike the Solar calendar does not have 4 seconds differenceevery day and the days of 29 and 30 in a month are clearly specified according to the accurate calculations of the moon and its phases; and from time immemorial this accuracy has prevailed – the common people at the time of Prophet (s.a.w) were all astronomers minus a telescope and a satellite but they were all very much familiar with the stars and the phases of the moon to a great extent and they were able to tell the number of days and the time by seeing the position of the stars and the size and the position of the moon and the sun at any given time.
Islam and the Quran and the Saheeh Hadees are ALL – ALWAYS for TRUTH and JUSTICE they can never never be contradictory to this – that is the only reason they have stood the barrier and crossed the bridge of time and Insha Allah they would stand so, to the end of the World,- the Electronic Telescope and the Satellite are both known for proclaiming the precise, accurate, truthful, and correct data at all times, they have never in the history of their existence furnished any false or inaccurate data – as such it is compulsorily bound on all Muslim Ummah to abide by their accurate and precise data and refrain from the falsity of the naked eye sighting which has been very very erroneous and inaccurate in the present condition of the sky with all the pollution that has been emitted into the atmosphere. Also we have accurate calculations for thousands of years ahead of us about the rotation and revolution of the Earth and Moon to determine the accurate and precise calculations to determine the conjunction, the birth, and the phases of the moon which will not vary as much as a second in the thousand years forecastfor an accurate and precise Lunar calendar which could be at anytime compared and confirmed with the help of the electronic telescope and the satellite – to establish these TRUTHS – Islam would never never never be a hurdle to this or any Truth, it is the half baked Alims who are proving contradictory to the Truth – True Alims would welcome this and support this Truth always.

It is not permissible to sell pork or to receive payment forcarrying it, or to help with it in any way, because the Prophet (peaceand blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah and His Messenger haveforbidden the sale of alcohol, dead meat, pork and idols.”
And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Help you one another in Al‑Birr and At‑Taqwa (virtue,righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin andtransgression. And fear Allaah. Verily, Allaah is Severe in punishment”
[al-Maa’idah 5:2]
The same applies to everything that is proven to be haraam:it is not permissible to help with it, such as serving alcohol or dead meat,or the meat of domestic donkeys, in restaurants or elsewhere.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al‑Maitah (the deadanimals — cattle — beast not slaughtered), blood, the flesh of swine, andthat on which Allaah’s Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering (thatwhich has been slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allaah, or hasbeen slaughtered for idols) and that which has been killed by strangling, orby a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by the goring of horns — andthat which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal — unless you are able toslaughter it (before its death)”
[al-Maa’idah 5:3]
What the Muslim has to do is fear Allaah and look for halaalincome, and avoid haraam income. Every body that is nourished by haraamthings, the Fire is more befitting for it, as the Prophet (peace andblessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every body that is nourished byharaam things, the Fire is more befitting for it.” Narrated by al-Tabaraaniand Abu Nu’aym from Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him); classed assaheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’ (no. 4519).
The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwaswere asked about working in restaurants where alcohol and pork are served.
They replied: It is haraam to work and earn money by helpingin the consumption of haraam things such as alcohol and pork, and thepayment received for that is also haraam, because this is cooperating in sinand transgression, which Allaah has forbidden as He says (interpretation ofthe meaning): “do not help one another in sin and transgression”. Weadvise you to keep away from working in this restaurant and similar places,because that will mean avoiding helping with something that Allaah hasforbidden.

To sum up: there is nothing wrong with you working in thisstore, so long as you do not help with anything haraam by selling it,collecting it, carrying it or any other kind of help.
