THE PSALMS - Israel Institute of Biblical Studies Psalms - A Study Guide (Executable Outlines) Study Guide - Psalms - Week 4 Study Guide for Psalm 23 by David Guzik - Blue Letter Bible A Psalms Study Guide - Christ Memorial Lutheran Church Book of Psalms - Read, Study Bible Verses Online. Psalm 23 written by David is used many times at funerals. However, this Psalm is far from being about death. Instead, it is a Psalm about our own personal journey with our Shepherd, Jesus Christ. In this study it is my desire that we learn in depth about how we can yield to our Shepherd and follow Him as He desires for us to follow. Lack of space in Lutheran Worship (LW) resulted in the inclusion of only 62 psalms in that book, a number too low. (This does not count, however, the many psalm texts that were printed as introits along with the other propers.) The primary criterion for selecting psalms for inclusion was the requirements of the lectionary. As we look at Psalm 46 we will see the events described are happening all around us right now. God’s Word is always contemporary. Right away the author makes a bold statement about the position people of faith take when things fall apart: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Thy Strong Word is a daily in-depth study of the books of the Bible with host Rev. AJ Espinosa and guest pastors from across the country. Thy Strong Word is graciously underwritten by the Lutheran Heritage Foundation and produced by the LCMS Office of National Mission.

let us fmake a joyful noise to gthe rock of our salvation!

2 Let us hcome into his presence with thanksgiving;

let us fmake a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

3 For the Lord is ia great God,

and a great King jabove all gods.

4 In his hand are the depths of the earth;

the heights of the mountains are his also.

6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

let us lkneel before the Lord, our mMaker!

7 For he is our nGod,

and we are the people of his opasture,

and the sheep of his hand.

pToday, if you qhear his voice,

8 rdo not harden your hearts, as at sMeribah,

as on the day at tMassah in the wilderness,

9 when your fathers put me to the utest

and put me to the proof, though they had seen my vwork.

10 wFor forty years I loathed that generation

and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,

and they have not known xmy ways.”

11 Therefore I yswore in my wrath,

“They shall not enter zmy rest.”
